What is a Ketogenic Diet?

What is a Ketogenic Diet?

The ketogenic diet is a therapeutic diet that is low in carbs and allows the body to generate calories from fats and protein in order to fuel the body. The ketogenic diet encourages ketosis which is a natural process that causes an increase in the rate at which the body burns fat instead of carbohydrate.

What should you then eat while on a Ketogenic diet?

First, to start a keto diet you need to plan ahead to ensure that there is a viable diet plan ready and waiting. What you eat actually depends on how fast you really want to get into ketosis. Thus, the more restrictive you are on carbs(less than 15g per day) the faster you can enter the ketogenic state. As a result, the lower you keep your glucose levels, the better the overall results obtained would be. But note that even though you can eat junk and still attain ketosis, the most important fact is that you enjoy healthy, balanced and nutritious diets that will give you unstoppable energy and revitalize your body. Thus, that is why all recipes in this cookbook are both Paleo and Ketogenic. These recipes would ensure high fat but low carbs and in addition, not cause any likely allergic /inflammatory effects in your body.
In conclusion, all recipes contained herein are naturally organic, soy free, dairy free and of course sugar-free. To that effect, despite being healthy and so nutritious, they are pretty delicious and super tasty!

Will I lose weight when I follow the Ketogenic diet plan?

First I will show you how to use your weight to calculate your daily protein, carb and fat requirement.
Protein Requirements:  Usually, protein intake should be between 1 gram and 1.5 grams per kilogram of lean body mass (if you know it) OR ideal body weight.
Example: a person weighing 180 pounds and has a lean body mass of 180 pounds. To calculate his average optimal protein intake, set the lower end of the range at 1.0 g/kg/LBM and the higher end to be at 1.5 g/kg/LBM. Taking into account that dividing pounds by 2.2 = kilograms, the math looks like this:
180 pounds Lean Body Mass/2.2 = 82 kilograms Lean Body Mass
Multiply 82 x 1 = 82 grams of protein
Multiply 82 x 1.5 = 123 grams of protein
The average optimal daily protein intake for this person would be 82-123 grams per day.
The same applies to the carbs and fat.
Differences in body metabolism and lean body mass can determine to a higher degree if the Ketogenic diet will help one lose weight. Irrespective of that, some established facts still show that Ketogenic diet help in the loss of weight. These reasons include improved energy use and reduced fatigue due to reduced cravings for sugar and high carbs, secondly, due to the high-fat content of a food, there is reduced hunger for food. Also, these recipes have nutritious and delicious diets as end results as well as an unlikely occurrence of vitamin and mineral deficiencies. In addition, there is improved health status due to an absence of unexplained health state prior to starting the plan.
Hence, due to the fact that no diet can guarantee weight loss due to probably differences in metabolic rate or presence of different health problems, I recommend that you talk to your doctors so as to avail them the opportunity to carry out certain tests to determine another appropriate strategy to undertake when Ketogenic diet is not helping.
